GOD CREATED LGBTQ+ PEOPLE!
In Finding Her, Wulfensmith tells the story of her inner battle between who she is, and who her church tells her she must be. I felt her pain and confusion in every step of her journey, loved those who supported her, and felt frustrated with those who stood in her way. I was especially touched by the love of her parents and the way they supported her. Sharon had to battle so many of her false core beliefs to come to the Truth of the divinity of her own being. Once she did, she had the courage to stand up to the world and show them the woman she had found!
I just couldn't put it down. Your book is such a page-turner. You had me hanging with you on every page!
Hooked in the first chapter! From the opening pages, I cared about Sharon, and I wanted to know how the story ended for her, not just out of curiosity, but out of concern and compassion.
For anyone who wonders what it is like to have your culture present a clear and overwhelming narrative of how one is supposed to feel/think/act/be, yet have your own heart tell a different story, this book shines light on that experience: both its anguish and its joy.

I was impressed by the courage and perseverance you have shown through so much pain, both physically and emotionally. Your book opened my eyes to the lack of support provided by church families to those who are deemed not to have “conformed.” They all need to read your book to gain awareness and empathy. Thank you for sharing your amazing life.
What can be more wonderful than finding oneself? A brave, moving tribute to Life. Thank you, Sharon
Thank you for your direct book about your struggle to be recognized for your true self. Your long willingness to not give up was a great lesson to me.
Sharon‘s book is quite the page turner. Even though I knew a lot of the story [because I know Sharon], I couldn’t put it down. Well written with lots of tension and humor.
I don't mean to offend you in any way by saying this, but the Evangelical Church is a CULT! Why wouldn't they just let you be who you are?
A person can try to fit in and later discover that they don’t have to, nor even should. It is much easier to find criticism and rejection than affirmation and acceptance.
Sharon fought hard against the trials with which she was confronted and came out a much better, fully-formed person. She never expected the acceptance she found, especially from her own family, so that love was so much sweeter.
It's an interesting exposition of the corners we, and society, paint ourselves into. The author's self-imposed expectations, in combination with the expectations imposed on her by her church and a conservative mid-western society led to decades of inner turmoil. Trying to channel religious beliefs into an expression of life, she first needed to find herself. And, she did! It takes a certain amount of courage to rip the scab off the self-doubt, the pain, blame and anguish, and to then emerge, confident that God loves ALL the children, not just a select few.
